Some would say the amount of time I spend alone
is unhealthy.
But I see it differently.
The amount of time you spend on your own
is indicative of your self reliance.
I find that it increases my productivity while keeping strong
my sense of self.
A great philosopher once said,
"It is not until you are lost, that you truly find yourself"
The modern man loses himself within the confines of his home every day,
behind the veil of the vice that compels him.
But from underneath the cold grip of loneliness
I find my aspirations,
my inspirations
and myself.
It's true that friendship is invaluable
and company keeps you sane,
but how many great writers
philosophers,
scientists,
inventors,
or artists
were any manner of sane.
These people spent most of their time alone and thrived within their solitude.
Only the destitute can't seem to handle it,
but those people couldn't handle themselves to begin with.
No,
the ones that have greatness buried within them
must spend time alone.
The rest of existence only frustrates them.
And I find myself in the same boat.
I can't look failures in the eye,
I won't spend my time with slack-offs and can't-hack-its.
If my invaluable resources must be squandered on the illadvised,
I choose isolation.
nice... "but how many great writers philosophers,
ReplyDeletescientists, inventors, or artists were any manner of sane."..... great line... a good piece on the paradoxical nature of solitude; on one hand you must interact with other beings in order to build life experience, but on the other hand, being alone is at times the best and most productive way to function. keep em coming
