On Trivialities

A photograph distorts
the place the person the event
it quiveringly captures
trivializes
all memory of subject and context
duration and distance size and scope
presence of enlightenment
illumination of perspective
fulfillment of purpose

shadow of an unremitting doubt
resurgence of a time-worn wrath or
agony of a dreadful sorrow

They all lie murdered across pixel-framed pigment

Similarly a museum lays waste
to the discovery of history
refabricates in neatly sequenced displays
methodized exhibits
all artifacts and documents
supplemented with convenient captioning
and photographs
the living breathing history of man and planet
asphyxiated in glass caskets
trivialized by overexposure
hyperstimulation of interest dilutes influence

Reclamation      Recreation        Restoration
contemporary concealer for the flesh of ancient beauty

Is there nothing sacred left?
Will all that is beautiful and true in this world
be un-earthed and sold to tourists?

Or will we follow the unmapped trail
to the depths of ourselves
and discover
the Truth?
